Embertone - The William Arnold Collection: Shān Bawu (KONTAKT)
January 09, 2023
Shan Bawu is a Kontakt library featuring world flutist William Arnold. Bawu is a flavored reed instrument with a clear, clarinet-like timbre that (most likely) originated in the Yunnan province of southwestern China. It is commonly featured as a solo instrument in contemporary Chinese compositions for traditional ensembles and films. Although still predominantly performed in China, Bawu has been used by many European composers and performers in recent years. But now, thanks to Embertone's collaboration with world flutist, vocalist and session musician extraordinaire William Arnold, the virtual wind instrument Shān Bawu has debuted. Many performers and composers can become familiar with the high expressiveness of the instrument with a variety of transition styles such as slur, slide, ornamental and MICROPHRASE. What's more, Shan Bawu is the first virtual instrument from Embertone to include the latest transition technology - four beautiful, complex phrases created by William Arnold himself. Indeed, these are the features that take Shan Bawu to a whole new level of realism as a simple, inspiring and powerful virtual instrument. Built from the ground up with William's perfect musical approach - performing and articulating according to his unique and beautiful style, along with many useful configuration settings to suit your playing style, such as using a mod wheel for vibrato and an expression pedal for dynamics. Shān Bawu is sure to appeal to those looking to take an unforgettable musical journey into the wonderful world of traditional Chinese brass music, including the ability to assign a CC2 breath controller for added realism while playing.
